Orange to colorless silica gel beads are a class of indicating desiccants that are formulated to visually indicate moisture uptake through a clear color change. Dry beads are bright orange, which changes color to colorless as it takes in moisture, making monitoring of its state of saturation simple without the need for further tests. These are non-toxic and cobalt-free beads that are environmentally safe and suitable for use in sensitive uses like food packaging, pharmaceuticals, electronic devices, and other hygroscopic products. These beads are usually between 1 to 4 mm in diameter and possess high water absorption capacity of up to 30-35% of their own weight. They are usually wrapped in breathable materials such as Tyvek or non-woven fabric sachets that provide effective moisture exchange while tightly holding the silica gel for effective and reliable humid damage protection.
