Orange crystal silica gel is a good desiccant and is applied in controlling moisture in a variety of applications. It is made from amorphous silicon dioxide (SiO) and has a hard, transparent orange bead appearance. The orange color is due to the presence of a non-toxic, safe moisture indicator that changes to green when the gel is saturated with water vapor. It is simple to observe and identify whether the silica gel should be replaced or renewed.

It functions by adsorbing moisture from the ambient air into its porous matrix, rendering it suitable for protecting sensitive contents like electronics, drugs, foodstuffs, papers, and equipment against mold, corrosion, and degradation caused by humidity. Orange silica gel is regenerable by heat, thus it can be reused and is cost-saving. It is a safer substitute for blue silica gel, which has cobalt chloride, an acknowledged carcinogen, providing a safe option without compromising on performance.
